construction Maintenance Manager Needed

Ghana Expert Builders is looking for a Maintenance Manager to join their team of building constructors in Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Tema, and other regions in Ghana. A successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of building projects and will be responsible for all facets of the Maintenance Team.

The Maintenance Manager will report to the Project Manager.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

a. Develop the preventive/predictive maintenance program in conjunction with Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff.

b. Provide leadership, coaching and technical direction to the Maintenance and Operations staff.

c. Lead a technical training/continuous improvement program to enhance employee knowledge, skills and abilities.

d. Build and maintain a strong partnership culture between the Maintenance and Operation teams to support our projects.

e. Collaborate with internal and external customers to prioritize projects.

f. Maintain high safety standards as per Ghana Expert Builders policies & procedures.

g. Effectively and consistently communicate companywide goals regarding safety, sustainability, efficiency, and performance to the Maintenance Team.

h. Manage personnel performance, including employee reviews, recommendations for coaching/performance improvement, disciplinary action, time and attendance, shift scheduling and overtime assignments.

I. Remain current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.

j. Collaborate with the Operations team to improve employee safety, production quality and equipment reliability.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

a. Proficient with Lean Manufacturing practices including 5-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes and able to instruct others in these practices.

b. Effective leadership and coaching skills, with a proven ability in coaching and developing others.

Ability to support procurement staff with sourcing and the purchase of equipment parts, materials and supplies.

c. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

d. Ability to prepare management update reports related to schedule performance, job costs tracking, and on time performance

e. Ability to coach and support staff after-hours.

f. Ability to overcome obstacles and demonstrates a sense of urgency in achieving objectives.

g. Understands interdepartmental impact of individual decisions and actions.

h. Demonstrates determination and persistence while treating others with respect.

I. High degree of independence, judgment, attention to detail and time management skills.

k. Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.

l. Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)


a. 4-plus years of leading/managing a Maintenance team in a manufacturing environment.

b. Project management/capital improvements and budget management experience.

c. Maintenance management software and the development of a preventive and predictive maintenance program.

d. Development of TPM program in a Lean Manufacturing environment.

e. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science related discipline is preferred.
